The purpose of the reset button which is red and mounted on the bottom of the canister is to reset this breaker.
Turn on the cold water faucet to allow water to flow into the disposal.
This prevents any electrical damage to the unit.
If it does not stay in retracted wait ten minutes and try again.
It is a red square button.
If it has tripped it will protrude a quarter of an inch.
This button drops out when the garbage disposal is overloaded.
